Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a noncancerous enlargement of the prostate gland. The major factors that play a role in causing this disease are changes in male sex hormones that come with aging, family history of prostate problems, and any abnormalities with the testicles. This condition is a common occurrence in older men and many men of 60 to 80 years of age experience various symptoms like incomplete bladder emptying, nocturia, urinary urgency, painful urination and a weak urinary stream.
Bladder cancer occurs when the cells in the urinary bladder become abnormal and grow out of control. Though it develops in bladder, over time, it can spread to nearby lymph nodes and other distant parts of the body, including lungs, liver and bones. A number of symptoms like blood in urine, painful urination, pelvic pain, weight loss, bone tenderness, fatigue, frequent and urgent urination, and urinary incontinence indicate the presence of bladder cancer.

The chances of urinary incontinence increase with age and it is more common in females than in males. When its severity and frequency increases, it affects the daily activities of the individual and brings a poor quality of life.
Urinary tract infection or UTI is an infection that is caused by microbes such as bacteria in any part of the urinary system, which includes kidneys, bladder, ureters, and urethra. Symptoms of UTI include strong and frequent urge to urinate, strong-smelling urine, burning sensation when urinating, cloudy or bloody urine, muscle aches and abdominal pains. Though UTI is more common in women, it can occur in people of any sex and any age.
