Thane, Sep 9 (UNI) A newborn baby boy has undergone a complex heart surgery at a private hospital in suburban Mumbai recently.
The baby boy was admitted to a local hospital for treatment of jaundice, however post a successful recovery, he was diagnosed with a critical heart defect, called ‘Transposition of the great arteries with an Intact Ventricular Septum’ (TGA), that occurs after childbirth.
Requiring emergency open heart surgery, the baby was referred to the paediatric cardiology team at Fortis Hospital in neighbouring Mulund. The baby was scheduled for surgery once his Covid test was confirmed negative, an official release said here on Wednesday.
