Dr Sarita Bhagwat is a Paediatric Surgeon with more than 28 years of experience in her field of specialization. She specializes in the reconstruction of birth defects like ARMs, hypospadias, epispadias, genital malformations, by birth urinary obstructions, etc. She also specialises in single-stage surgery for Hirschsprung’s disease. She currently works as a Senior Consultant - Paediatric Surgery - at Fortis Hospital, Mulund.
Dr Sarita completed her MBBS, MS (General Surgery), and MCh (Paediatric Surgery) from the renowned Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai. Later, she pursued a fellowship program in Paediatric Urology from Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. Prior to joining Fortis, she worked with BJ Wadia Hospital for Children, Mumbai, for 15 years. She has extensive expertise in treating babies diagnosed antenatally with challenging, complex congenital malformations like diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), congenital pulmonary airway malformations (CPAMs), and fetus-in-fetu (FIF).
Dr Sarita Bhagwat has written various book chapters and has been a co-editor of the book ‘Re-do Surgery in Children’. She was a recipient of the Hargobind Foundation fellowship for the year 2002 for getting advanced training in Paediatric Surgery at Royal Children`s Hospital, Melbourne, Australia.
